5 Quick Fixes to Refresh your Space

Updated: Dec 7, 2022

As a home stager I am always styling new homes, which means mixing and matching pieces from my inventory to create the perfect look for a home coming on the market. Sometimes, to complete the look, I pull things from my own house – a piece of art here, a lamp there. Take it from someone who constantly has a changing home environment – it feels good to change up your space! There have been countless studies done showing the affect our outer environment has on our inner environment. You’ve all heard the phrase, messy bed, messy head, right? Well I’m here to say, complacent home, complacent energy. Here are 5 quick fixes you can do in your home to refresh your space and boost your energy!

1. Consider changing up your throw pillows and throw blankets to refresh your living room. Peruse Home Goods, Marshalls, or Target for the latest colors and styles at very affordable prices. I recommend choosing feather-filled pillows, as they keep their shape and don’t flatten out like foam-filled pillows.

2. Change up your artwork! People ask me where I get my artwork all the time, and my answer might surprise you! I often look on Art.com or Etsy for unique and original art prints, but I have also found some of my favorite pieces on Amazon! I’m constantly changing my dining room art, or art over my couch whenever I need to borrow it for a house, and I am always amazed at the transformation a new piece of art can make!

3. Try rearranging the furniture you already have. Ever since I was a little kid, I always enjoyed rearranging my bedroom furniture, and getting that “new room, new me” feeling. Same feeling applies on a larger scale in your home! Rearranging your furniture will refresh your space and breathe new life into your environment. Try it! The best part is, if you don't like it, you can always move it back!

4. Do a closet cleanse. This one is more of an inner refresh, but equally as impactful as the others. You may not be able to see into your closed closets or pantries, but knowing they are stuffed and disorganized causes a constant low level of stress. (Or is that just me?) The act of clearing and cleansing out your closet or pantry can be truly transformative! Imagine that as you clear out things you do not need, and let them go with love (thank you, Marie Kondo!) you are allowing for new wonderful things to come into your life, and also giving new life to the items you are choosing to keep. It’s a win-win. Start with one closet or drawer and go from there!

5. Upgrade your bedding. Now, I’m a thrifty girl, and I love a bargain, but a nice, quality bed is one piece of furniture that I am 1000% on board with spending some money on. Getting good rest does wonders for your mood and energy, and so I say investing in your sleep is investing in your health. New sheets, bedding, or pillows is a very pampering and luxurious gift you can give yourself, and in my opinion, is worth every penny.

Try these quick fixes to refresh your home today and see how good it feels!
