4 Rookie Mistakes to Avoid when Getting your home Ready for Sale

Updated: Jan 31, 2023

As a professional home stager, I have seen my fair share of homes on the market, so I know what it takes to get homes sold fast. I'm here to share what I've learned with you, so you don't caught making these rookie mistakes!

1. Not getting your home professionally staged. Sometimes people think they can just clear the clutter, but that doesn’t have nearly the same affect that staging has. Ideally, a home seller should paint their home and do some other improvements in addition to staging, but if you choose to do the bare minimum, staging is it. Home Staging is the best investment you can make, as it has the highest ROI than any other home improvement!

2. Not hiring a professional photographer. This is a no-no! Your home is staged beautifully, and the pictures need to reflect that, especially with today’s buyer doing most of their home shopping online. iPhone pictures won't cut it!

3. Not giving your home a thorough cleaning. This is an important step that shouldn’t be skipped! Hire a professional crew, and deep clean all the nooks and crannies in your home (and baseboards and walls too).

4. Not hiring a Real Estate Agent to sell your home for you. This one goes without saying, but always, always, always hire a professional realtor to sell your home. Find a qualified real estate agent that you enjoy working with to get your home sold for the best possible price!

Avoid making these rookie mistakes and list your home like a pro!
